How much does it cost to ride?

    • Riders pay $1.25 and ¢10 per minute or ¢20 per minute for e-bikes.

    • Guests can check out up to 4 BCycles at a time.

    • Monthly Memberships: $19 per Month

    • Unlimited hour-long rides

    • ¢5 per minute for e-bikes

    • Rides over one hour receive an additional ¢10 per minute surcharge.

What is Houston BCycle?

Houston BCycle is a nonprofit bike sharing service in Houston, Texas. With a network of 24/7/365 on-demand bicycle stations throughout Central Houston, we provide Houstonians and visitors alike an easy, fast way to navigate the city: Check out our station map here.


How does it work?

Rent a BCycle from any station, ride it, and return it to any BCycle station. It’s that simple.


How do I check out a BCycle?

Anyone can check out a BCycle from our mobile app or at a station kiosk, either as a member or a guest rider. Members can also use their RFID key fob. Guests can check out up to 4 bikes at a time. Members can check out 1 bike per membership at a time.


When are the stations open?

You can check out bikes from stations 24/7/365. Some stations located in parks are subject to park hours.


What happens if I get to a BCycle station and there’s no room for my bike?

Use the mobile app to find a nearby BStation with open docks. If you have any unexpected overage fees due to the extra ride time, call Customer Service (713) 865-3662 immediately and we will help you resolve the issue.

If you are unable to ride to another BStation, lock the bike to a sturdy part of the full station (leave the key with the bike) and call Customer Service (713) 865-3662 immediately.


Can I pay with cash?

Houston BCycle can only accept credit or debit card payments.


How do I know if my BCycle was returned properly?

When returning your BCycle, make sure you push the bike all the way into an open dock. You should hear 3 beeps and see the green light flash to confirm your return. Give your bike a firm tug to make sure. Opt-in to text messages to get confirmation BCycle is properly docked!


What if I want to keep the bike all day?

Bike sharing is meant for short trips. That’s why our pricing model is based on 30/60-minute trips. If you want to ride around Houston for the entire day, we recommend contacting a local bike rental shop.


How can I extend my membership?

When you’re signed in to your account, any membership that you purchase simply adds time to your existing membership. You can sign up for automatic renewal, which is not required.


How can I see a map of stations on-the-go?

Download the BCycle mobile app for a station map, an overlay of bike lanes and to get directions anywhere. Be sure to hit the refresh button each time for the most current station updates - it’s in the bottom right corner.


Can I reserve a BCycle ahead of time?

Bike sharing is a public transit option therefore, we cannot reserve bikes. However, if you are part of an organization that would like to reserve a group of bikes for a special event, please reach out to info@houstonbikeshare.org for pricing info.


What happens if the bike gets lost or stolen?

Contact Customer Service immediately at (713) 865-3662. You are financially responsible for any and all bikes you check out. If the bike you checked out is not recovered, you will be responsible for the replacement cost, $1200 plus sales tax.


When is Customer Service available?

Customer Service is open 7 days a week. Representatives are available M-F 8am-5pm and weekends 9am-4pm by phone: 713-865-3662 or email: info@houstonbikeshare.org. If you have trouble with a bike or a station, be sure to let us know so we can fix it.


Does Houston BCycle provide helmets?

Houston BCycle does not provide helmets, although we highly encourage wearing one while riding.


Is it legal to ride without a helmet?

In Houston, anyone 18 and older may ride without wearing a helmet.


What if I am involved in a bike incident?

If there has been an injury, please dial 911 first. If appropriate, contact the police as well. Exchange information with any other affected party and collect contact information from witnesses. Then, contact Houston BCycle Customer Service (713) 865-3662 at the earliest appropriate time.


What if I get a flat tire?

Please return a bike with a flat tire to the nearest BStation. Contact Customer Service (713) 865-3662 at the earliest convenience to alert them to the maintenance issue so we can lock down the bike for repair. If you cannot get the bike to a station, properly secure the bike with the built-in lock and contact Customer Service immediately to let us know, even if it’s after hours.


Can I buy multiple membership with the same credit card?

You can purchase multiple memberships or guest rides with the same credit card. However, members can only check out 1 bike at a time with their account; guest users can check out up to 4 bikes at a time. Each membership or guest ride also needs to be tied to a unique email address, even if you use the same credit card to purchase.


If I cancel my membership do I get a refund?

All membership fees and usage fee sales are final. If you wish to cancel your membership, please feel free to contact Customer Service (713) 865-3662 to notify them. However, there is no refund under the terms of purchase.


How old do I have to be to ride a BCycle?

You must be 18 years of age of older to rent a Houston BCycle.
