The Houston Bike Tag Map by the r/bikehouston Reddit Community

The "Houston Bike Tag - The Google Maps Experience" is a Google Map created by the Reddit user
u/ultimate_ed, containing the locations and images of all the Bike Tags that have been placed so far. The map serves a few purposes:

  1. Record and Visit Locations: It provides a record of all the tagged locations, allowing other members to easily find and visit those spots. By clicking on a tag on the map, users can see a preview picture and description of the location.

  2. Avoid Duplication: The map helps users determine if a location they are considering has already been tagged, thus avoiding duplication. This ensures that new and unique places are discovered.

  3. Identify Untagged Areas: The map also shows areas that haven't been tagged yet, referred to as "Bike Tag deserts." Users familiar with those areas are encouraged to introduce new sights and locations to the community.

The Bike Tags on the map are grouped in batches of 25 for easier management and display. Users can turn on all the tags to see how well the city has been covered so far. Tags with red pins indicate locations where the originally tagged image no longer exists, such as murals that have been painted over.

The post encourages users to have fun exploring the city of Houston and discovering new sights through the Bike Tag game. It's an opportunity to appreciate the diverse and interesting places Houston has to offer while engaging with the r/bikehouston community.
